The Secret is Dedication

On this day 9 years ago my Mr. and I received the Holy Sacrament of Matrimony! We said our vows standing up at the alter in front of our family and friends, and most importantly God.
We have been surrounded our entire lives by our grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. that have shown us by example what it looks like, and sounds like, and what it means to have a lasting marriage. We have learned by watching our family that a marriage takes DEDICATION. In my opinion, that’s the “secret” behind a lasting and healthy marriage. I wouldn’t say a “good” marriage, because every marriage will go through its share of peaks and valleys.

Dedication to keep my vows, dedication to keep my commitment, dedication to keep growing, dedication to have patience when needed, dedication to have trust, dedication to communicate openly and honestly, dedication to support each other in all that we do, dedication to stay the best of friends, dedication to work at loving one another unconditionally, and dedication to keep God at the forefront of our marriage; that’s what has kept our marriage going for 9 years.

Just like anything else in life, it takes hard work to keep a lasting & happy marriage. Nothing worth having/doing comes easy. I am beyond grateful that I have a husband who is willing to work hard and stay dedicated to US, our marriage, our journey in life, our ups and our downs. Both people {in any relationship} share an equal part at balancing the load it takes to make it all worth it!

These past 9 years have been nothing but amazing, and as each day goes by I love my Mr. more and more. I can’t wait to see what God has already planned for us in this life!

Photo Friday

As I reflect on this past week and think about the beginning of a new Lenten season, I am drawn to remember serene places and moments of peace in my life.

The Pope wrote that this Lent season, we should think about “giving up” being indifferent to one another and not just the “norms” like soda, candy, fast food, etc.  He explains that Lent is a time to pray, fast, and draw near to God. When I think of these things, my mind drifts away to places I have been when I felt and knew God was there watching over me and making His presence known. Here are a few of those places that I was able to capture in a photo.

Is there anywhere in particular you go to find peace? Hope you enjoy and have a restful weekend!
