The Secret is Dedication

On this day 9 years ago my Mr. and I received the Holy Sacrament of Matrimony! We said our vows standing up at the alter in front of our family and friends, and most importantly God.
We have been surrounded our entire lives by our grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. that have shown us by example what it looks like, and sounds like, and what it means to have a lasting marriage. We have learned by watching our family that a marriage takes DEDICATION. In my opinion, that’s the “secret” behind a lasting and healthy marriage. I wouldn’t say a “good” marriage, because every marriage will go through its share of peaks and valleys.

Dedication to keep my vows, dedication to keep my commitment, dedication to keep growing, dedication to have patience when needed, dedication to have trust, dedication to communicate openly and honestly, dedication to support each other in all that we do, dedication to stay the best of friends, dedication to work at loving one another unconditionally, and dedication to keep God at the forefront of our marriage; that’s what has kept our marriage going for 9 years.

Just like anything else in life, it takes hard work to keep a lasting & happy marriage. Nothing worth having/doing comes easy. I am beyond grateful that I have a husband who is willing to work hard and stay dedicated to US, our marriage, our journey in life, our ups and our downs. Both people {in any relationship} share an equal part at balancing the load it takes to make it all worth it!

These past 9 years have been nothing but amazing, and as each day goes by I love my Mr. more and more. I can’t wait to see what God has already planned for us in this life!

Lilly Pulitzer for Target

You may be shocked by this, but I wasn’t one of the many women who woke up early to head to Target and snatch whatever I could get my hands on from Lilly Pulitzer.  You may ask…Why? How? What’s wrong with you?

My response to that question is to answer with a question.  Was this event a life or death situation? Would my life have ended if I didn’t go? For me, it wasn’t life or death and my life wouldn’t have come to an end because I didn’t make it there.

Was I curious about what would be there and if I actually would have been able to get anything? Yes, of course. But this weekend my parents, sisters and God mother came up to visit and spending time with them is more meaningful than standing in a line and waiting to spend my money on a few pieces that just about every other fashion blogger would be featuring. So, while I won’t be posting any Lilly Pulitzer clothes, shoes, accessories, home decor on my blog, I know I won’t regret my decision to stay home.

Family time has always been the most important aspect of my life and I know life isn’t over for me because I missed out on this event 🙂

Easter Joy!

Easter has always been a special time in my life. My faith in the Lord was instilled in me at a very young age and still continues. I’m so thankful that This Is the Day the Lord has made – Let us rejoice and be glad!

My prayer, my wish, my hope for you and your family is that you may be blessed on this day and all the days of your life!

Time for me to go and enjoy this special day with the ones that mean and matter the most to me!

Photo Friday – Recap of NY

I’m finally back home to the sunny skies and warm weather of Arizona!

My New York trip/mini vacation was fun and adventurous. My younger sisters enjoyed themselves, but they were definitely worn out by day 2 of walking around NYC haha. Since it was my second time around, I knew what to expect and I wasn’t  suffering as much as they were. Poor things. But, they survived and in the end were glad they got to see and experience “The Big Apple.”

I won’t flood you with the hundreds of photos I took while we went from Albany, to New Jersey, to NYC. Instead, I’ll leave you with a few of my favorites. These were all taken with my Samsung Galaxy S5, because I forgot the battery charger to my Nikon 😦

Anyway, hope you enjoy and have a lovely weekend!

Busy, busy, busy

As you can tell by the title of my post today, this petite lady’s life has been very busy.

I can’t even remember what it was that kept me so busy yesterday that I didn’t even post.  Today started off with a 7 A.M. staff meeting (ugh), then ended with another meeting (thankfully that one was short & sweet).  Teachers are busy worker bees, that’s for sure!

Today was my second class of yoga! I thought maybe the “I love this because it’s my first time” feeling would go away…NOPE, my second class was just as gratifying 🙂  It was exactly what I needed after trying to survive the day with a tension headache that turned in a migraine 😦  Ohhhh, and I tried Zumba for the first time yesterday!!  That class was fun & certainly gave me a workout, but the “hula dancer” in me came out. I was literally counting all the instructors steps and saying them to myself as if I were trying to teach someone else the moves. Ha!  I enjoyed the Zumba class as well, but because I have/had a meniscus tear in my knee, I’m going to have to limit myself for a while to see if I can hang.  I’m already planning to go to yoga twice next week though!

Anyway, since there was no post yesterday I’m doubling up on my ootd.  Hope you don’t mind 🙂  Don’t forget tomorrow is Photo Friday!! Can’t wait to show you a few more of my favorite photographs I’ve taken over the years.

Super Bowl XLIX in Arizona

What a fun-filled weekend for the state of Arizona, but most of all for the city of Phoenix!  We were lucky enough to host the Championship of America’s favorite game for the second time since the opening of our gorgeous stadium {Go Cards!}  The entire “valley of the sun” was the place to be this weekend, and I was able to experience just a small taste of it.

I went late Saturday night with two of my sisters & our cousin to explore how they transformed the city of downtown Phoenix into the Super Bowl mecca.  Congratulations to the New England Patriots on taking home the Vince Lombardi Trophy yet again! I don’t want to even get started on the AMAZING half-time show that Katy Perry put on or we’d be here all night haha!  She ROCKED and so did Lenny Kravitz & Missy Elliot (I’ve been a huge fan of her ever since she came out).  Anyway, enjoy a few of my pics from downtown Phoenix taken with my Samsung Galaxy S5.

Backyard sightseeing

Two of my sisters and my cousin came up to visit me and spend the weekend here in Phoenix.  So, what better way to entertain them, then to take them sightseeing?!  We went to a small city park, then headed down to Tempe Town Lake.  I was able to play around with my camera for the first time. And if you missed my previous post on Photo Friday, I’ll say it again…I am NOT a photographer.  Heck, I’m not even an amateur photographer!  But, I do love to take pictures and I would love to someday become a photographer.

Here are just a few photos from our gloomy, but adventurous day around town.
