The Longest Hiatus Ever

When I started this blog I really didn’t have a specific direction that I was going to take it. I wasn’t sure if I could even successfully keep up with a blog, and I guess I was right.

It’s been years since I’ve posted, however I thought about my blog every day and all the things I could’ve posted about. So now, let’s rewind the last 2 years <<<

At the end of 2015, my Mr. & I bought a house! We had been renting a house prior to that for almost two years. Owning your own home is like nothing else. It makes being an adult more real ha!

But 2016 was one of THE most special years of my life. My Mr. & I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary AND became parents to the most handsome son ever {a biased opinion, I know}! In November of  2015, we finally decided to take the steps to see fertility doctors because we weren’t conceiving and I had been off BC since 2009. When everything checked out with me, all we needed to do was get the Mr. checked. Well that became a difficult task since he had to continue to travel for work out of state. Things weren’t looking good for us at that point, but we stayed hopeful and continued to have faith that God would bless us when the time was right.

Our faith helped us get through a difficult time with the loss of my Mr.’s stepdad in March. And in late April, I found out I was 3+ weeks pregnant! I was lucky that my pregnancy wasn’t hard at all. From the 1st trimester all the way to my delivery-everything went well with no complications. We were blessed with a health baby boy on December 13, 2016 and our lives were changed forever! Elias has brought nothing but pure joy & love to our family’s life.

It’s now the middle of 2017, I’m on summer break and enjoying every minute of being home with my SONshine (my mom was watching him when I returned to work from maternity leave). I don’t have the luxury of being a SAHM, so I will be back to teaching next month. I will now be a 2nd grade teacher and teammates with one of my closest friends! We are so excited to be back together again. I have also decided to take a {HUGE} risk and become a Lipsense Distributor with Senegence. More on this topic later.

For now, these have been the biggest & most memorable {milestone} changes that have taken place in my life in the past 2 years. My goal for 2017 is to continue to work on my blog, grow my business, explore new opportunities & live in each moment with my family!

Wish me luck!

The Secret is Dedication

On this day 9 years ago my Mr. and I received the Holy Sacrament of Matrimony! We said our vows standing up at the alter in front of our family and friends, and most importantly God.
We have been surrounded our entire lives by our grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. that have shown us by example what it looks like, and sounds like, and what it means to have a lasting marriage. We have learned by watching our family that a marriage takes DEDICATION. In my opinion, that’s the “secret” behind a lasting and healthy marriage. I wouldn’t say a “good” marriage, because every marriage will go through its share of peaks and valleys.

Dedication to keep my vows, dedication to keep my commitment, dedication to keep growing, dedication to have patience when needed, dedication to have trust, dedication to communicate openly and honestly, dedication to support each other in all that we do, dedication to stay the best of friends, dedication to work at loving one another unconditionally, and dedication to keep God at the forefront of our marriage; that’s what has kept our marriage going for 9 years.

Just like anything else in life, it takes hard work to keep a lasting & happy marriage. Nothing worth having/doing comes easy. I am beyond grateful that I have a husband who is willing to work hard and stay dedicated to US, our marriage, our journey in life, our ups and our downs. Both people {in any relationship} share an equal part at balancing the load it takes to make it all worth it!

These past 9 years have been nothing but amazing, and as each day goes by I love my Mr. more and more. I can’t wait to see what God has already planned for us in this life!

Photo Friday – Recap of NY

I’m finally back home to the sunny skies and warm weather of Arizona!

My New York trip/mini vacation was fun and adventurous. My younger sisters enjoyed themselves, but they were definitely worn out by day 2 of walking around NYC haha. Since it was my second time around, I knew what to expect and I wasn’t  suffering as much as they were. Poor things. But, they survived and in the end were glad they got to see and experience “The Big Apple.”

I won’t flood you with the hundreds of photos I took while we went from Albany, to New Jersey, to NYC. Instead, I’ll leave you with a few of my favorites. These were all taken with my Samsung Galaxy S5, because I forgot the battery charger to my Nikon 😦

Anyway, hope you enjoy and have a lovely weekend!

New York City – Photo Friday

I’m in NYC!

I’m spending the weekend here in the city with my Mr. & two of my sisters. It’s their first time ever visiting and experiencing the city, so they’re super excited and I’m stoked to be back! I know it may sound a little crazy leaving the warm sunny weather of AZ to come to the cold and possibly rainy weather here in NY, but it’s all worth it to spend QT with my Mr. and celebrate my youngest sister’s 24th birthday here.

So, while I’m being a complete tourist and trying to snap away- here’s the 1st photo of our visit for Photo Friday. I’m totally bummed out that I forgot my camera charger at home, which means the only photos I’ll be taking this weekend will be on my Samsung Galaxy S5. I hope they turn out okay *fingers crossed*

Have a lovely weekend!

Playing catch-up

You know the saying, “time flies by…when you’re having fun?” Well, time also flies by when you’re a busy woman with a full-time job as a teacher trying to finish up the end of a quarter! So, I apologize for pretty much falling off the face of the blogging planet, if anyone actually cares/noticed.

Yesterday was my first official day of spring break! Many things/events have gone on since my last post, so today I’m trying to play catch-up. The most exciting event that currently took place in my life was attending my first blogger panel discussion. The panel discussion was open to new bloggers and/or bloggers seeking advice on how to grow their following. I was super nervous and excited all at the same time. I’m so glad I went because I met some really supportive and lovely ladies, as well as learn how some of the most well known bloggers in Arizona juggle the blogging life! I learned some really helpful tips and hope that I can soon start to implement them into my experience with blogging.

Anyway, I’m off to go and pack for a week in NY again! I know, I know…why would anyone in their right mind leave a state with temperatures in the mid 80’s to go to a state of temperatures in the mid 40-50’s?! One reason: My Mr.  He’s still out there for work, and instead of spending my spring break alone enjoying the sunny, warm, AZ weather I’m choosing to spend some much needed QT with my Mr.! That’s the secret to our marriage 🙂

I’m hoping I can snap some really great photos with my new Nikon and share them with you all! For now, I’m posting my ootd’s from my Instagram.  Follow me on Instagram to find out where my outifits are from! https://instagram.com/thispetitelife/  OR search my Instagram @thispetitelife

Manic Monday

It was just another manic Monday! I’m not sure what was “in the water” today, but I’m sure it had something to do with the rain drizzle we had. The bright side was that I made it to my yoga class tonight and it relieved all that stress and tension from the day.

I don’t want to get into how my day was “bad,” because there are people out there who will always have it worse than I do. So, instead I’ll leave you with my ootd’s that I hadn’t posted in the past few days. Sorry for the overload here!

What is it that helps you get through those “tough” days?

Busy week, busy life

This past week has been nonstop busy. Such is the life of a teacher though. We had Parent-Teacher conferences on Wed and Thurs. I started ahead of the game with a conference on Monday, which worked out in my favor not having to stay until 7pm last night.

This 3 day weekend, I’m spending my time with my most favorite person in the world…my Mr.! He got me a ticket to fly to NY (he’s there for work), so that we didn’t have to be apart on one of our(my) favorite days of the year. I promise I won’t get all lovey dovey on you, but I’m so excited I won’t be spending the Hallmark holiday of love all alone haha.
Anyway, being so busy with conferences and packing for my trip I forgot to take a pic of my post-it for Post-it Tuesday! But, I chose to write the following on a post-it: “Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all.”-Helen Keller

This quote couldn’t be more true to what’s been happening in my life lately. My best friend, whom I call my bestest, is embarking on a new journey in her life by starting up & building a business. And I have blindly, but graciously, offered to help her haha. I gave her my disclaimer that while I’m offering to help her, I truly know nothing about the “business/corporate” world, but I’m a natural leader and lifelong learner (teachers-it’s who we are). 😉  She reassured me as much as she probably could, and told me I didn’t need to know much, and that just knowing her and her mission is what will be most beneficial for her business. So, here I go…on another daring adventure!

Guess I’ll leave you with my latest ootd’s that I couldn’t post during the week & another favorite photo for Photo Friday! Have a lovely weekend.
