The Secret is Dedication

On this day 9 years ago my Mr. and I received the Holy Sacrament of Matrimony! We said our vows standing up at the alter in front of our family and friends, and most importantly God.
We have been surrounded our entire lives by our grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. that have shown us by example what it looks like, and sounds like, and what it means to have a lasting marriage. We have learned by watching our family that a marriage takes DEDICATION. In my opinion, that’s the “secret” behind a lasting and healthy marriage. I wouldn’t say a “good” marriage, because every marriage will go through its share of peaks and valleys.

Dedication to keep my vows, dedication to keep my commitment, dedication to keep growing, dedication to have patience when needed, dedication to have trust, dedication to communicate openly and honestly, dedication to support each other in all that we do, dedication to stay the best of friends, dedication to work at loving one another unconditionally, and dedication to keep God at the forefront of our marriage; that’s what has kept our marriage going for 9 years.

Just like anything else in life, it takes hard work to keep a lasting & happy marriage. Nothing worth having/doing comes easy. I am beyond grateful that I have a husband who is willing to work hard and stay dedicated to US, our marriage, our journey in life, our ups and our downs. Both people {in any relationship} share an equal part at balancing the load it takes to make it all worth it!

These past 9 years have been nothing but amazing, and as each day goes by I love my Mr. more and more. I can’t wait to see what God has already planned for us in this life!

My Birthday & Anniversary Month!

 My wish list 😉

July is my favorite month of the year! As you can tell by the title of my post…it’s my birthday AND anniversary month! This year my Mr. & I will be celebrating 9 years of marital bliss. We are still very much in love and our friendship continues to grow stronger as each day passes.

A fun fact about me; I don’t like odd numbers unless it’s the numbers 5 or 7. I think of the number 5 as an even number, because you can count by 5’s like you do with even numbers. I know, weird and so very teacher-like. What can I say, I’m a 1st grade teacher 😊.  The number 7 we all know is “lucky.” 🍀

Anyhow, my reason for telling you that fun fact is because this year I will be turning 35. I know a woman should never tell their age, but I’m not ashamed of my age. In fact, I am grateful for how many years God has blessed me with to live on His earthly home. Too many people don’t get the chance to live this long and I give thanks for each day I get to wake up and create more memories with my family & friends. Every day is a gift!

Speaking of gifts, my Mr. asks me on every special occasion we celebrate, what I want. My wish list varies each year/occasion. This year, I’d love to receive any of the above pictured goodies!

Easter Joy!

Easter has always been a special time in my life. My faith in the Lord was instilled in me at a very young age and still continues. I’m so thankful that This Is the Day the Lord has made – Let us rejoice and be glad!

My prayer, my wish, my hope for you and your family is that you may be blessed on this day and all the days of your life!

Time for me to go and enjoy this special day with the ones that mean and matter the most to me!

New York City – Photo Friday

I’m in NYC!

I’m spending the weekend here in the city with my Mr. & two of my sisters. It’s their first time ever visiting and experiencing the city, so they’re super excited and I’m stoked to be back! I know it may sound a little crazy leaving the warm sunny weather of AZ to come to the cold and possibly rainy weather here in NY, but it’s all worth it to spend QT with my Mr. and celebrate my youngest sister’s 24th birthday here.

So, while I’m being a complete tourist and trying to snap away- here’s the 1st photo of our visit for Photo Friday. I’m totally bummed out that I forgot my camera charger at home, which means the only photos I’ll be taking this weekend will be on my Samsung Galaxy S5. I hope they turn out okay *fingers crossed*

Have a lovely weekend!

Busy week, busy life

This past week has been nonstop busy. Such is the life of a teacher though. We had Parent-Teacher conferences on Wed and Thurs. I started ahead of the game with a conference on Monday, which worked out in my favor not having to stay until 7pm last night.

This 3 day weekend, I’m spending my time with my most favorite person in the world…my Mr.! He got me a ticket to fly to NY (he’s there for work), so that we didn’t have to be apart on one of our(my) favorite days of the year. I promise I won’t get all lovey dovey on you, but I’m so excited I won’t be spending the Hallmark holiday of love all alone haha.
Anyway, being so busy with conferences and packing for my trip I forgot to take a pic of my post-it for Post-it Tuesday! But, I chose to write the following on a post-it: “Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all.”-Helen Keller

This quote couldn’t be more true to what’s been happening in my life lately. My best friend, whom I call my bestest, is embarking on a new journey in her life by starting up & building a business. And I have blindly, but graciously, offered to help her haha. I gave her my disclaimer that while I’m offering to help her, I truly know nothing about the “business/corporate” world, but I’m a natural leader and lifelong learner (teachers-it’s who we are). 😉  She reassured me as much as she probably could, and told me I didn’t need to know much, and that just knowing her and her mission is what will be most beneficial for her business. So, here I go…on another daring adventure!

Guess I’ll leave you with my latest ootd’s that I couldn’t post during the week & another favorite photo for Photo Friday! Have a lovely weekend.

Busy, busy, busy

As you can tell by the title of my post today, this petite lady’s life has been very busy.

I can’t even remember what it was that kept me so busy yesterday that I didn’t even post.  Today started off with a 7 A.M. staff meeting (ugh), then ended with another meeting (thankfully that one was short & sweet).  Teachers are busy worker bees, that’s for sure!

Today was my second class of yoga! I thought maybe the “I love this because it’s my first time” feeling would go away…NOPE, my second class was just as gratifying 🙂  It was exactly what I needed after trying to survive the day with a tension headache that turned in a migraine 😦  Ohhhh, and I tried Zumba for the first time yesterday!!  That class was fun & certainly gave me a workout, but the “hula dancer” in me came out. I was literally counting all the instructors steps and saying them to myself as if I were trying to teach someone else the moves. Ha!  I enjoyed the Zumba class as well, but because I have/had a meniscus tear in my knee, I’m going to have to limit myself for a while to see if I can hang.  I’m already planning to go to yoga twice next week though!

Anyway, since there was no post yesterday I’m doubling up on my ootd.  Hope you don’t mind 🙂  Don’t forget tomorrow is Photo Friday!! Can’t wait to show you a few more of my favorite photographs I’ve taken over the years.

I’m just a beginner

We all start somewhere, at the bottom, as a beginner.

That’s exactly how I’m going to feel tomorrow at my very first yoga class.  I’ve been wanting to take a yoga class for a long time now, and have even tried it out with one of those home workout videos (complete fail by the way).  I gathered up enough courage to throw myself out there and sign up for a class. I won’t be going alone though…I don’t have that much courage, haha!

Our school’s music teacher sent out an email to the entire staff inquiring if anyone knew of a good place to take a yoga class. It took me a while, but I responded by saying “No, but I’m willing to give it a try with you!” She was more than happy to know there was someone else out there that has never tried yoga and was ready to embark on a new adventure with her. We’re both just trying to release some stress, do something good for ourselves, and get healthy. So, we found a great deal on Groupon (gotta love Groupon), and we are now signed up and pumped for our first class. I’ll let you know how it goes & if we’ll be sticking it out or not.

So, do you practice yoga and if so, how do you like it?
