Opening My Eyes, my mind, my heart

I’ve always been aware of my surroundings. I’ve always had an open mind and have always tried “putting myself in the other persons shoes.” But to be honest, I haven’t always had an open heart to the world-my world-our world.

We are the generation that is responsible for ensuring the next generation and therefore the future generations after them, will have a world to live in that is filled with God’s beauty, God’s wonder, God’s grace, and the humanity that God instilled in all of us.

I know I won’t change over night, and neither will you. But I do know that with each passing day I can take just one more small step in the direction of;

Love. Respect. Kindness. Compassion. Humanity. Selflessness.

Another Roadtrip

So, I realize that I never posted any photos of my weekend getaway with my Mr. to Boston.  I assure you there were a ton of photos taken, but I’ve been procrastinating on downloading them to my laptop..I know, I know there really isn’t an excuse especially since I am on vacation.  I figure I could just upload a few of my favorites from my summer break once I get back home to AZ. If you’re following me on Instagram you can see a few daily pics from my summer vacay so far.

Tonight the Mr. and I are heading to Canada!! He had to work today, so I had to do the laundry and packing.  I’m so excited to finally see Niagara Falls. It’s one of the many sites on my long list of “places to see.”  The Mr. has never been to Canada, so I’m even more excited that he’ll be able to scratch it off his list 😉  I went to Montreal last year with my bestie, so I have been to CAN.

Anyway, today is also my parents 39th wedding anniversary!  I am beyond blessed to have parents that have lasted this long and have stayed faithful to the vows they made to each other on June 26, 1976.  My parents are the reason I believe in love and in marriage. They have set the example for me and my sisters. They have shown us that a marriage takes hard work, dedication, communication, faith, trust, patience, understanding, laughter and most of all LOVE. My prayer is that my Mr. and I can follow their lead (as well as my mother/father in-law) to one day be able to celebrate our 39th wedding anniversary and more!

And if you haven’t heard, today is also a day that will be marked in history books. America has officially made it legal for same sex marriages. #loveislove #lovewins

Exploring

Today the Mr. and I are going to explore Boston. Neither one of us have ever been there and we’re exciting about this short weekend trip!

Unlike our impromptu day trip to Lake George, where I left our camera at the hotel, I fully intend to bring (it’s already packed) our Nikon. Hopefully I (we) can get some nice photos of our time there.

My mom used to always tell my sisters and I to travel and see as much of the world as we can. Being that I was an Army brat, I grew up in several different places, but because of that I was able to see and travel to places many people don’t get to see.

One of my goals in life is to continue to travel and try to see as many different places as I can. So, today it’s Boston. Next weekend will hopefully be Niagara Falls and Canada!

Stay tuned for our photos! If you have any suggestions on where to go, what to do, what to see, where to eat please let us know!!

Summer break & a Hiatus

It’s been way too long since I’ve posted. The end of a school year always takes up majority of my time and I rarely have time to take on anything else. Trying to end a school year, move classrooms, and spending time with family I couldn’t find a balance and something had to give. Unfortunately it was my blog.

Now that summer break is here I can start to post again. I’m currently in New York spending my summer with my Mr. We’ve been apart since October and I wanted to take advantage of my time off. Not to mention, escape from the heat of the valley of the sun! Don’t get me wrong, I love my city…but being able to get away from 100+ degree weather isn’t such a bad thing.

I’ve been here for a week now. The Mr. and I are trying to strategically plan out our weekends since it’s really the only time he has off. On a whim, we went to Lake George yesterday. We originally planned to go to Saratoga Springs (mainly because I love that little town), but we decided to go further north and check out the lake.

The Mr. heard it was a great place to check out, and we couldn’t agree more. Lake George was beautiful! If you’re ever in upstate NY and get a chance to visit, you should. We weren’t prepared for a day at the lake and couldn’t partake in laying out on the beach or taking a dip in the water, but we enjoyed a steamboat cruise and learned some fun facts about Lake George and the gorgeous lake houses that surround it.

Here are some pictures I captured on my iPhone 6. I failed to bring my Nikon (I regret that big time)! Hope you enjoy.
